The Nichols fall team traveled to the Pepsi Center to play game 2 against Amherst but lost its first game of the season 4-2. The game lacked intensity, and Amherst was able to capitalize on many Nichols turnovers.
The first period ended 0-0, and it was as exciting as it sounds. Neither team generated great offensive chances. Amherst finally broke the tie in the second, as the period ended at 1-0. Nichols tied the score 1-1 early in the third on a Jack O'Connor goal, but Amherst quickly regained the lead, scoring two goals on Nichols defensive zone turnovers. With the goaltender pulled, Wilson Vershay was able to bring the score to 3-2, but a stick handling error lead to an Amherst empty net goal and a final score of 4-2.
Nichols will play its final game of the fall on October 25 on the road against the Monroe County U-18. The puck drops at Lakeshore in Rochester at 3:15pm.
