Dobbs Signs in BCHL

Senior defenseman Troy Dobbs caps of 4 years at Nichols by signing to play for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL.  Dobbs will be the first player from Nichols to play in the BCHL since the 100 years of hockey celebration in 2009.  Alberni Valley is located in Port Alberni, BC.  The Bulldogs made the playoffs this year falling to Victoria in 7 games. 

Dobbs will join former Viking and St. Lawrence commit Michael Ederer who will also be heading out to the BCHL and will play for the Merritt Centennials.  Michael played 3 years for Nichols and played last season with the Buffalo Jr Sabres of the OJHL.



Nichols Players Shine at NY State Camp


Nichols Hockey was well represented at the NY State Player Evaluations as 9 Nichols players were either selected or named as an alternate for the USA Hockey National Festival.  In addition, 4 other Nichols students were selected to participate in their age groups.  In the 1997 age group, Carson Gicewicz, Harrison Oates, Zac Herrmann, and Aaron Fanti were selected while Sam Jones was named as an alternate.  For the 1998's Alex Camarre was selected and Stephen Dhillon was named as an alternate.  In the 1999 age group, Matt Gasuik, Harrison Craffey, and newcomers Eric Urbank, Dylan Seitz, and Anthony Scanzuso were named to the festival while Jack Millar was named an alternate.  The USA Hockey National Festival will be held in Amherst, NY during late June and early July.  Nichols School placed more players into the National Festival than any program in the state.

Lipa signs with Walpole Express

Eric Lipa '14 has signed on to play for the Walpole Express of the EHL in Walpole, MA.  Eric will follow path of Frank Cefalu '13 who spent this past season in Walpole. Walpole

The Express program captured 3 AtJHL titles from 2010-2012 before moving into the newly formed Eastern Hockey League.
The Express Junior program was inaugurated in 2005 to provide ambitious hockey players from across the country, a team to develop into successful scholar athletes in college. Tirabassi Signs with Middlesex Islanders

Anthony Tirabassi '14 has signed with the Middlesex Islanders of the USPHL for the 2014-15 season.  Anthony served as an Assistant Captain in his senior year.

The Islanders are nationally known as a destination for players who want to advance to college hockey sending 23 players to college in the previous two season. 

Smith Chooses Choate

Jake Smith '14 has chosen to take a post-graduate year at Choate-Rosemary Hall in Connecticut.  Jake served as Assistant Captain this year and finished second in league scoring in the CISAA this year.  You may remember that Choate defeated Nichols in double OT to win the Lawrenceville Tournament this past winter.  We are all looking forward to seeing Jake next December.

Kompson Commits to Connecticut College

John Kompson '14 has accepted an opportunity to attend and play hockey at Connecticut College for the fall of 2014. Kompson spent his final year at Nichols serving as the team captain. 

Connecticut College plays in the highly competitive NESCAC conference.  He will join Mason Evans ' 13 who will also be attending Connecticut College in the fall.
